Review Summary for 1590 Lexington Avenue
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 1590 Lexington Avenue reveal a mix of experiences. The building is praised for its generally clean hallways, quiet atmosphere, and attractive renovated units featuring in-unit washers and dryers. Neighbors are mostly friendly, and water pressure is good. However, significant management challenges surface, including slow or unresponsive maintenance, frequent manager turnover, and inconsistent heating. Roof leaks and mold, especially on upper floors, are recurring problems, and pest issues (cockroaches, flies) have been reported. Garbage management and security concerns also affect tenant satisfaction. Despite some positives, many renters hesitate to recommend the building without improvements in management responsiveness and building maintenance.

Don’t live here
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is nice and in unit washer dryer is convenient
Cons:
I strongly advise against renting at 1590 Lexington or any property managed by Centennial Properties. Since moving in less than a year ago, it’s been a nightmare. Maintenance requests are rarely addressed in a timely manner—if at all—and many of the appliances are outdated or outright broken. Despite this, rent is priced at market rate, which is completely unjustifiable given the conditions.

The building has serious pest issues, including flies, cockroaches, and other insects. There are also wasps on the roof, which significantly detracts from what should be a perk of having roof access.

Packages are stolen regularly, unauthorized people frequently gain access to the building, and none of the security cameras actually work.

To make matters worse, the property management company is often behind on essential bills, putting tenants at risk of power outages. In under a year, four building managers have quit after only a month on the job, and the original super also left. The new super is unresponsive and nearly impossible to reach.

This is not a safe, well-managed, or well-maintained place to live. It’s certainly not worth the cost, and I would not recommend it to anyone.
