Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 215 West 101 Street highlight its prime Manhattan location, spacious apartments, and generally quiet environment with thick walls that reduce noise. Many tenants appreciate responsive management and helpful doormen, with regular pest control and well-maintained amenities like elevators and laundry facilities. However, some concerns exist about occasional pest issues, aging infrastructure needing renovation, and occasionally rude or inefficient management since ownership changed. Garbage disposal areas sometimes cause odors, and the surrounding neighborhood has some challenges, including street cleanliness. Overall, the building suits renters seeking a spacious, family-friendly community with good location and attentive if occasionally imperfect management.

"Up and coming" building
Former Tenant
Pros:
The best thing about this place are the large apts. Also, it is family friendly. I would say about 1/3 are professionals with young families, 1/3 are college/grad students, and 1/3 are lower-income folks who have been here for ages. New management is responsive and care about the property. They keep it clean, but common areas are a bit run down. Another pro is the sturdy thick walls -- keeps noise levels down.
Cons:
Rats around grounds of building. Roaches in my apt. Old building in need of renovations. Stairwell has cigarette butts. Doormen are not really doormen, more like security guards, except they don't really check people. Next door to a domestic violence/women's shelter. Dirty, dirty street with dog poop, rat holes/tunnels. High rent.
