Money Hungry Landlord - living in a 2 bedroom
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to ABCD line and good delis. The neighborhood is great and diverse. With 2 wonderful parks nearby. My advice is don't pay more than 2750 for this apartment, even that is a lot.
Cons:
Its loud, building is rented by a landlord who raises rent by a lot for very small apartments. Our rent went up from 2750-3500 in 2022. The maintenance is very slow if something breaks. Our roof has leaked 3 times in 2 years. We still have damage from it in the bathroom, we have asked for it to be painted over and over to no avail. One time the roof in our bathroom fell because they weren't fixing the real issue and only doing cheap patch-up jobs. Luckily no one was inside. Another time our roof leaked nasty black water that we had to collect in our cooler otherwise it would have gone everywhere. I added a photo The dishwasher is really bad and doesn't really clean dishes so you have to wash it twice. This building is also pretty bad for any folks with mobility issues as there are 2 sets of steps you have to get up before reaching the elevator bay. And the elevator is extremely extremely slow. Sometimes you wait for 5+ mins just for the elevator to come, if it is working. The down button does not work on it, so you have to press up to bring the elevator down, which sucks since the garbage is in the basement and the only way to get there is through the elevator. And most of the time you end up going up cause you have to press the up button and someone called the elevator up. The elevator has been this way for at least 2 years and they don't fix it.
Advice to owner:
Stop raising rent like vultures and pushing the community that has lived here for decades out for the sake of more and more profit. Try to be human for once.

A passable experience at best
Former Tenant
Pros:
Our unit was alright, it was updated and clean. I can’t think of a much more convenient location and the neighborhood has most things you could ever need. Has a nice buzzer system on an app.
Cons:
Aspects of the place started slowly falling apart like it was remodeled cheaply. Our downstairs neighbors would have loud EDM music blasting all day and all night. The landlord wasn’t really very helpful, they took anywhere from several weeks to several months to even complete a simple repair. The neighborhood is pretty loud as the building is directly on 125th above the ACBD trains. Sirens, horns, and screaming blared at all hours of the night from nearby police and fire stations. Packages were stolen from the lobby on a few occasions and sometimes people would come in off of the street to use the restroom in the stairwell.
Advice to owner:
Learn how to treat your tenants and get things done in a timely manner. We could’ve put up with a lot, but at the end of the day it was your lack of care that caused us to leave.
