Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 540 West 136 Street emphasize a great location near public transit, stores, and amenities, with spacious apartments and friendly neighbors noted as positives. However, consistent and severe pest issues (mice and roaches), poor management responsiveness, unreliable heat and water, package theft, and unclean common areas significantly impact residents' quality of life. Tenants report slow or ineffective repairs and a lack of communication from the super and owner, alongside noise and maintenance concerns. While the neighborhood and apartment sizes are appealing, ongoing building upkeep and management shortcomings remain major drawbacks, advising prospective renters to weigh these factors carefully.

Do not live here!
Former Tenant
Pros:
The day I moved out was a great day.
Cons:
Almost everything. The landlord owns 2 pitbulls that bark non stop day and night, they are not cared for and remain in the center courtyard area year-round. Mice, roaches, and other critters are found daily.
Advice to owner:
Sell the building to someone who will take better care of it.
