Review Summary for 141 West 139 Street
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 141 West 139 Street in Manhattan indicate varying experiences. Tenants appreciate the proximity to train stations, affordability (though this might have changed), and good heating. However, noisy neighbors, renovation needs, package thefts, and weed odor are recurring issues. Concerns about management accepting problematic tenants and lack of responsiveness are also highlighted. Suggestions include stricter applicant screening and apartment renovations. Positive notes include clean common areas, quietness, and maintained building condition. Overall, while some recommend it for its cleanliness and quiet environment, others caution against noise and management issues.

153 West 139th Street - Cheap for a reason (Good starter apartment)
Former Tenant
Pros:
Not expensive (might not be cheap anymore)
Near multiple train stations
Good if you're just starting out in NYC and want to live by yourself
Cons:
Noisy neighbors
Apartments need to be renovated
If the apartment is not rent stabilized, then it's not worth it
Consistently stolen packages
Regular smell of strong weed
Advice to owner:
Renovate the apartments and have noise policies written into the contract each tenant signs. Also install video intercoms in each apartment.

Low income housing scam
Former Tenant
Pros:
This is generally a quiet building.
Cons:
The management company Tryax has been accepting thousands of dollars from the city to fill the building with drug addicts. Behavior and respect for the building is at an all time low. There have been two fires in that last few months. Management refuses to accept any blame or admit to these problems.
Advice to owner:
Please screen your applicants better. This used to be a nice building but greed seems to have taken over. You should be ashamed by how this building is being run.
