Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenants' reviews for 295 Convent Avenue point out the building's historical charm, spacious units, and convenient location in Harlem. Positive aspects include well-maintained common areas, grounds, and garbage management. However, concerns arise regarding slow responses from the owner, delayed maintenance, and old infrastructure issues like water leaks. Tenants appreciate the solid construction but highlight the need for more regular upgrades and prompt maintenance. Despite some drawbacks, renters still recommend the building, especially those looking for a slice of Harlem's historic vibe with considerate neighbors and manageable noise levels.

Great Apt with a Few Drawbacks
Former Tenant
Pros:
Gorgeous apartments, spacious, AMAZING super, lobby and laundry area is kept clean, most neighbors are nice
Cons:
Gets very hot in the winter. Floors/ceilings are paper thin and you can hear everything. Landlord and real estate company suck big time- owner is next to impossible to get in contact with and there's no property management company.
Advice to owner:
respond to your tenants!!!!!!!

A HARLEM GEM
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building was built in late 1920s so I liked the solid walls (in the original apartments as recently some of them have been split). My apartment is quite spacious.
The common areas, grounds and garbage areas are well maintained.
There is an exterminator that comes somewhat regularly.
Cons:
The landlord does not like to repairs or take into consideration natural wear and tear. This includes mandatory painting based on NY law.
A new elevator was installed which took months to complete. It’s new but unusually slow.
There are always pipes bursting because it is an older building so expect water issues.
The laundry room rarely has more than 50% of the 4 washers and 4 dryers working at the same time without issue.
