Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 504 West 159 Street highlight a diverse and convenient location near Columbia Medical Center with spacious, renovated units favored by students. Pros include exposed brick walls and good water pressure. However, tenants frequently report issues with noise from neighbors and the street, occasional pest sightings, and slow maintenance response. Concerns about shared spaces include hallway clutter and disturbances from long-term tenants, with some describing intimidation and poor garbage management. While management is sometimes seen as responsive, there is dissatisfaction with enforcement of rules and security challenges like package theft. Overall, the building offers potential but requires improved upkeep and community management to enhance tenant experience.

This building has so much potential to be Nicer!
Former Tenant
Pros:
The area is OK and definitely diverse Building is one of the nicer buildings in the neighborhood. Lots of college students Friendly neighbors
Cons:
The rent controlled Family in apt 2A has been in the building 20+ years. They take over the building. They are always leaving stuff in the hallway, slamming their apt door, screaming in the hallway, the elderly woman and daughter run up and down the stairs at all hours of the day and night and they sit outside the building all summer long with chairs intimidating newly arrived Market Rate paying tenants. The family is constantly screaming in and out of the building with no regard to other residents. Me and other neighbors have complained about this and nothing is done. You have kids playing basketball in the hallways and management is not on Top of these complaints.
Advice to owner:
Set Rules and Boundaries for all tenants and abide by the law!
