Building Overview
Building Report
Review Summary for 600 West 187 Street
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews emphasize the building's convenient location near amenities but criticize the poor management's lack of timely repairs and unaddressed infestations like rodents and cockroaches. Tenants highlight friendly neighbors and a dedicated super, but consistently highlight the ineffective and confrontational management company. Suggestions include investing in building upkeep, proper pest control, and improved responsiveness to tenant concerns. Despite some positive aspects, such as renovated apartments and good water pressure, the general consensus leans towards recommending a change in the management company for an overall better living experience.

It is what it is.
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location of the building was pretty much the only pro, it was close to church, hardware store, grocery stores, supermarket, public transportation, schools.
Cons:
Management does nothing to actually fix any problems that arise unless you get the city involved. The walls were so thin I could hear the neighbors in bed & when they’d watch a movie, their music, couldn’t find a good spot to hang on the walls because it would go right through the “wall”. The RODENTS! My goodness, the rodents, the mouses would at times be roaming the hallways, cockroaches all the time no matter the cleanliness, the exterminator was useless. Management was also extremely rude for no reason aside from their power trip I’m guessing. Horrible.
Advice to owner:
Take care of your building, invest in better materials and products when you do replace something and take an anger management class and etiquette class to learn how to speak to tenants who would pay you.

If only the building had a better management co.
Former Tenant
Pros:
The Super, Ricardo, is the best. He always tries to go above and beyond for Tenant’s.
Cons:
The Management company is beyond horrible. They are always confrontational and lie just about everything (e.g., calling routine plumbing work an emergency to shut off the water with no prior notice).
Advice to owner:
Get a new management company.

Nightmare Management Company, Terrible Infestations & No Heat
Former Tenant
Pros:
The Super is a sweetheart.
The tenants are wonderful.
The neighborhood is great, although noisy.
Cons:
Management company are a nightmare; never fix anything without hassle, don’t address the very serious rodent infestation and have not disclosed to tenants in the past about bedbugs.

The building heat is always at the minimum; some apartments are freezing in winter.

They don’t repair appliances in a timely manner.

They ignore emails from tenants.
Advice to owner:
If you just did the job of managing the building, that would be amazing. Turn on the heat. Do repairs. Address the rodent issue. Work with tenants instead of against. Stop ignoring emails and lying.

Pros:
The renovations done on the apartment were well done and I enjoyed living there.
Cons:
Management company is compiled of some of the most incompetent people on the planet.
