Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews for 333 Cypress Avenue highlight mixed feedback. Tenants appreciate the convenient location, modern apartments, amenities like the gym and rooftop, but express concerns over cleanliness, maintenance issues such as broken equipment in the gym and the rooftop condition, and continuous rent increases. Residents urge management to prioritize building upkeep, respond promptly to tenant concerns, and address issues like pest control and garbage management. Despite some positive aspects, several renters recommend improvements in maintenance practices and better value for the high rent prices.

Poorly maintained but decent

Pros

-elevator -free gym -fairly new / nice apartment style -price -location (close to 6 train and to the park) -neighbors we're always friendly and mostly quiet -laundry in building (see cons list) -bike room (see cons list) -party room (be prepared to spend hours cleaning it before you use it though!) -rooftop was nice

Cons

-elevator is broken at least 25% of the time (good luck if you live on higher floors, also the stairs are DISGUSTING!!) -mice problem (even if you're a very clean person, your neighbors might not be) -dog poop always out front in the "garden" aka tub of dirty mud, trash and poop -only seen it actually cleaned once in years of living here (sweeping/mopping hallways, etc) so the elevator always had trash on the floor, the floors of the lobby and hallway were filthy, the basement even worse -laundry in building but you're lucky if one unit is working and the floor is always flooded with dirty water -bike room is always full of the super's stuff so it's hard to move around (also untouched/forgotten bikes that have been there for years!) -when it rains even a little hard, the whole lobby becomes a puddle

Advice to the owners

Clean the building *at least* every 6 months. Make the super do his job of maintaining things like the front garden being clear of trash and dog poop. Fix the mouse problem. FIX THE ELEVATOR FFS!!!

Good new building, convenient location

Pros

I love that this building has a garage — it is for a fee, but a huge plus nonetheless. Subway station is a 5 min walk away and getting to manhattan is a breeze. The units have European type AC units that provide almost instant hot and cold air. The room reaches your desired temp in about 10 minutes. Appliances are nice, overall everything looks brand new. The super is very nice and responsive, and will fix any problem you have or direct you to someone who can. The building has a rooftop, gym, bike room, laundry room and game/party room.

Cons

No in-unit laundry, the machines in basement break down sometimes but get fixed eventually. Even though the building was built in 2018, it’s starting to show visible signs of wear because of low-quality build materials. The building is meant to be luxury, but it doesn’t live up to that standard. Rent is very expensive, and cleanliness of common areas could be better. The front doors of apartments are not sound-proof AT ALL, and we can hear the neighbors’ dog that barks all day, the elevator sounds and music if it’s being played close to the front door of neighbors’ apartment. But we can’t hear any noise coming through walls from other apartments, which is nice. The neighborhood can get noisy with people playing loud music that will be heard across many blocks. Not many places to eat out around here, so for good food and night scene you will have to go to Manhattan.

Advice to the owners

Please do a better job at keeping the building clean and keeping laundry/gym in order.
