Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews note 118 Montague Street’s unbeatable location and charming pre-war features as major draws. Tenants appreciate the natural light, original details, and responsive maintenance staff who handle repairs promptly. However, the building faces challenges including aging infrastructure, occasional heating failures, and inconsistent garbage management. Cleanliness, especially in common areas, is a recurring concern, alongside pest control and water pressure improvements. Some renters report unsettling neighbor incidents and rent hikes without proper notice. While some endorse management, others urge better tenant respect and building upkeep. Overall, it suits those valuing historic charm and location but expect maintenance and management hurdles.

Location! but at what cost?
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is unbeatable and it has some pre war charm
Cons:
This building is old and they are charging inflated rates for rusty bathroom fixtures and weak heat. This last winter the heat was barely working at all and at one point the building went nearly 2 weeks without heat and hot water. They raised my rent nearly 10% the two years there despite paying in full and on time consistently and they did not give the proper notice as per city law. They also are not compliant to new compost/containerization laws.
Advice to owner:
Stop being greedy, value your good tenants.

Old Building, Great Location
Former Tenant
Pros:
This building gets great natural light, has beautiful crown moulding and original fireplace and is in a great location
Cons:
There's a history of leaks (one neighbor had her ceiling cave in), you can hear everything in the hallway, and there's no trash service.
