Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 217 St Johns Place, Brooklyn, highlight its excellent location close to transit and Prospect Park, as well as affordable rents and friendly neighbors. However, residents frequently mention significant maintenance and building condition issues, including outdated infrastructure, drafty windows causing noise and cold, and pest problems—especially with mice—that often go unaddressed by management. Heating reliability is inconsistent, and the building lacks air conditioning. Garbage management and cleanliness receive mixed feedback, with hallways and basement storage areas often in poor condition. While some find management responsive, others report poor communication and slow issue resolution. Despite these drawbacks, some tenants still appreciate the community and location.

Not worth the cheap rent
Former Tenant
Pros:
Cheap rent I guess. Nice neighbors.
Cons:
Old, drafty windows, lets in so much outside noise, you can hear EVERYTHING. The windows let in so much cold air, you will be cold even when you have to complain to the super to turn the heat up. Mice problems… cracks in doors, so of course they find a way in. The best of all: no buzzer system in the whole building! Package theft is rampant too, especially when the front door stops closing all the way.
Advice to owner:
Upgrade windows, upkeep building better to prevent rodents. Maybe finish painting the building hallway?
