Not worth the cheap rent
Former Tenant
Pros:
Cheap rent I guess. Nice neighbors.
Cons:
Old, drafty windows, lets in so much outside noise, you can hear EVERYTHING. The windows let in so much cold air, you will be cold even when you have to complain to the super to turn the heat up. Mice problems… cracks in doors, so of course they find a way in. The best of all: no buzzer system in the whole building! Package theft is rampant too, especially when the front door stops closing all the way.
Advice to owner:
Upgrade windows, upkeep building better to prevent rodents. Maybe finish painting the building hallway?

Beware if mice all the time with little to no response from LL
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location, and pretty neighborhood
Cons:
You will be facing a 24/7 deluge of mice. I mean a truly shocking amount of rodents. To the point where you might wonder if the mice are necessary for the structural integrity of the building. Landlord also barely answers tenants on mice or other issues. I moved out of this building on a week with no power and that was fairly common
Advice to owner:
Maybe answer your phone, even one out of every 4 times

Awful building, great location
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is great, close to pretty much everything including subways and prospect park. Generally quiet from street noise (recently not the case tho). Management company is typically very responsive and helpful.
Cons:
Terrible noise between units and from the hallways. They recently started full on construction on the entire street which just adds to the daily noise. There is a tenant on the top floor that takes his dog out everyday at 530am. The building hasn't been renovated in decades and is barely maintained, just enough to be livable. As a result, things break every few months and need to be repaired. The hallways always stink. The basement is an absolute wreck with trash everywhere so it doesn't even really serve as storage. North facing apartments get little natural light and are fairly dark throughout the day.
Advice to owner:
Just suck it up and actually renovate this building.
