Major leaks in 1C
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location, common areas clean
Cons:
I lived on the first floor in the back and would often be woken up by the rats. I’d have to keep my window open all winter because it was so hot and then a few times the heat would just turn off and it would be freezing. The super is mean and unresponsive.

I loved this spot until water damaged forced me out
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location to the train and park are amazing. There was a huge amount of closet space for a studio and laundry in the basement was a big bonus.
Cons:
It’s an old building, so there are some maintenance issues. I had one mouse while I was there. There were several leaky pipe issues while I was there over two years and ultimately I had to move out earlier than intended when a burst pipe above me flooded my unit. In the aftermath of this leak the landlord has been difficult and unresponsive. He’s making me put up a fight to get my rent back despite the unit becoming uninhabitable in the first week of the month. He’s not being responsive to my renters insurance.

Overall good experience
Former Tenant
Pros:
Living on the private side of the building offers quietness. Heat, when it works, is adequate. Usable space and closets. Elevator was down (only?) 4 times in the 2 years I lived there. Nice big windows.
Cons:
Water takes a very long time to get hot in the winter. Trash can sometimes pile up in front of building.

Paper thin walls but great location
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, good light, laundry in basement
Cons:
Super is an asshole
Wouldn’t fix problems like leaking from the ceiling
Super thin walls meaning you can hear your upstairs/downstairs’ neighbors’ every move
Management didn’t care when my apartment was robbed

Pretty good
Former Tenant
Pros:
-Concrete walls make for pretty great silencing of music etc
-Theres cameras in the lobby where mail is dropped off so nothing goes missing
-working elevator (but VERY small)
-laundry in the basement (just a couple units but you rarely have to wait)
Cons:
-Dirty building
-floor to ceiling is thin in the sense of - if people are doing anything on the floor - even walking in heels - youll hear it - it hasnt been bad - most of the time its totally quiet - people are respectful
-Super doesnt have great english and makes repairs a pain to schedule (you have to be present and he comes when its good for him) that being said hes a good guy and doesnt really give you any crap and is handy)
-management can be a pain to communicate with or negotiate with
-they raise the rent by “inflation” (certainly not reflected in my paychecks!) every year
-old building and a couple peoples apartments got flooded a little bit from a leaky roof awhile back (mine wasnt one of them and i think its fixed now but yeah)
Advice to owner:
Even the slightest support during covid would have been nice...or the slightest give in rent for lease renewal during the pandemic...
