Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Tenant reviews for 877 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn reveal a building with a desirable location and valuable outdoor space. However, renters consistently report poor management, citing unprofessional and disrespectful behavior from staff, delayed or inadequate maintenance, and unauthorized entries. The building suffers from noise issues and occasional utility outages, with questionable handling of these problems. Garbage management and cleanliness receive mixed feedback. Despite decent heating and water pressure, the overall tenant experience is marred by lack of owner responsiveness and concerns over rent increases. Prospective renters should weigh the convenient location against management challenges and noise disturbances.

Harrassing realtor, Unethical rent increase
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice Location, outdoor space
Cons:
Here's a bit of a story with quotes because it was truly the most bizarre experience I've had!
I viewed this unit recently(October), and I also previously viewed it 2 years ago, when it was listed for 3100. I was excited it was back on the market but now was listed at 3800 (which is quite the rent increase) but thought I'd go in person to ask the reasons for the increase and see if there was room to negotiate. I met with Katarina Golianova and routinely looked around, asked to take a video, and when I asked about the price/utilities. The realtor said "its 4100/4200," I was shocked and mentioned what I previously saw and she immediately turned cold and started talking over me, repeating "Then show me the listing, pull it up, show it to me." Confused, I pulled it up on Streeteasy and all the previous renting history listed was gone. Again, I calmly pointed out thats weird that its gone- I had just viewed it. She then again starts talking over me and raising her voice at me, saying I confused the apartment with another listing. and that I dont have "any proof" I asked her not to raise her voice and explained how Im just confused because thats not what I saw and actually wanted to ask about the 3100-3900 increase, 4200 is out of my budget. She then raised her voice once more and said "Oh! so now you're accusing me of price gouging!"
I'd had enough and headed for the door and mentioned if we even had permission to be in the apartment, as the whole situation now felt very off. She still followed me out saying "How dare I accuse her" I just said "This is obviously wrong, you don't talk to clients this way" and left- she then sent a long text to me saying I needed to delete the video I took... The whole thing was incredibly shady, so seems like she outed herself for price gouging in the end!
Advice to owner:
Stop working with Katarina Golianova, don't be shady.

Horrible management, break-ins, power outages, etc!
Former Tenant
Pros:
There was a backyard. End of list
Cons:
Property management (specifically Katerina and Marek) were abismal. At one point our power was out for TWO WEEKS in the middle of winter (electric stove) and their resolution was to put our food in cooking pots on the back porch and use the grill in the backyard… in the middle of winter! They would send maintenance crews unannounced in the early AM and they would bang on the doors so SO aggressively to the extent that our door frame was breaking apartment. They gave us explicit permission to paint and then deducted from our security deposit as a result. Took months of persistent emailing to get them to give us our security deposit.
They would key in unannounced. Sometimes they would go through neighbors’ apartments to get into ours/the backyard. I could go on for years.
Complete slum lords. DO NOT LIVE HERE.
Advice to owner:
Treat your tenants with respect and then perhaps you wouldn’t have to replace them every 12 months. Don’t act as though we’re extorting you every time we humbly ask for you repair something that is your LEGAL OBLIGATION to repair. <3
