You get what you pay for
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location, price, that's it honestly
Cons:
Crazy upstairs neighbor, mice, windows suck with no privacy (landlord has peeped through twice :s ), appliances are old and not updated and you have to bother him constantly to fix it, pipes suck, etc etc. The entire apartment is run down and the ceiling lights are like insane asylum light panels taped to the ceiling.
Advice to owner:
Jeez

Nightmarish
Former Tenant
Pros:
Cheapest building in the neighborhood.
Cons:
Living here was a nightmare. The building is filthy. Constant bugs. Toxic mold. The basement floor unit floods & is not fire safe. Inconsistent heating. Scalding water. Front door sticks, locking people inside the building. Only takes rent via check, which he picks up at an indeterminate time and with no notice. Landlord is aggressive & standoffish & refuses most maintenance requests.
Advice to owner:
You should not be a landlord

Wonderful Landlord in Prewar Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
The landlord is super responsive – he often shows up in person the same day, sometimes in under an hour. He is super attentive to any complaints and the biggest highlight of living here. He is super laid back, and a very honest and trustworthy person – cannot say enough good things about him. We also really liked how spacious the apartment was, and the tall ceilings and sunlight from both ends of the apartment were really nice to have also. Plus, plenty of storage space – the location is great, too.
Cons:
The building itself could use a little TLC – occasional leaks and pest issues as is unfortunately par for the course for a lot of pre-war apartments.
Advice to owner:
When you can, maybe invest a little more in infrastructure upgrades to the building.

Great if you have no money
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice neighborhood, laundry 1 block away, most rooms are a decent size
Cons:
Loud neighbors, hadn’t been cleaned or painted in a long long time, landlord is rude and takes him forever to fix something
Advice to owner:
None
