Overpriced Unit and Shit Management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Located in a neighborhood a bit distanced from the highly gentrified part of bushwick. Close proximity to the L, grocery stores, gym.
Cons:
Pile up of issues that often made living here inconvenient.
- Roach/Bedbug issue that drove a roommate out unexpectedly. - Package theft that amounted to over $3000 in losses, including a MacBook. - Noise exposure (street side), often times from loud shitty music played at odd hours / nights (eg Tue 4am) or from the Superintendent and his fellow drunks outside the building. - Untreated mice problem for over 4 months. Had to store all of our food in plastic bins and documented/caught 5 mice. Mgmt didn’t care to bring someone out to look for the source. - Handful of instances of electricity outages. - Apt door lock malfunctioning, was locked out one night prior to a job interview. - Building door lock malfunctioning and left untreated for months, contributing to more package theft. - Inequitable rental rates. I was charged a significantly higher rate ($3000/$2700) years than most other tenants ($2400) - Extended my lease pre pandemic, when asked to negotiate rent given many other units were being charged less and i had lost my job due to COVID, I was ignored. - I was given an extension at a lower rate than the offer was rescinded so they could try to find someone to pay a higher rate (good luck with that)
