Building Overview
Building Report
Review Summary for 221 Himrod Street
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenant reviews for 221 Himrod Street in Brooklyn highlight mixed feedback. While some appreciate the spacious units and accessible location, concerns revolve around maintenance issues like water leaks, pests, and slow responsiveness from management. Inconsistencies in communication, noisy neighbors, and problematic building infrastructure also detract from the overall experience. Despite some positives like central AC and laundry units, the issues with management, security deposits, and neighbor disturbances are recurring themes. The feedback suggests a need for significant improvements in building maintenance and management practices to enhance tenant satisfaction and overall living conditions.

Should be Demolished!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nothing really. I guess the location was okay. But the illegal cellar rooms make it difficult to enjoy anything.
Cons:
Filthy, cheap, not worth the going rent price
Advice to owner:
Demolish this building please!!

good apt for price but needs work
Former Tenant
Pros:
great sunlight - very spacious- private outdoor space
Cons:
Buzzer doesn't work and they havent fixed it for 3 years - you need to be home to recieve packaged or else they get stolen. terrible communication between maintenance and management. wood floors aren't sealed. Foundation is terrible. Our floors split from walls and we had mice (it's been sealed since)
Advice to owner:
fix the buzzer

Great but can be better
Former Tenant
Pros:
Very accessible and central to shopping and transportation
Cons:
Neighbors are loud
Neighbors have really loud dogs
Neighbors have open fire pit too close to building even when there is another one further away
Terrible building with OPTIMUM internet.
If you want great internet this is not the place, go elsewhere

Good place to live, shady landlords
Former Tenant
Pros:
Central AC, laundry in unit, responsive supers for repairs, relatively cheap for the are, landlords didn’t raise rent for 4 years that I lived there (2018-2021), only 6 units in building so few neighbors. No big issues with building and my unit
Cons:
Very loud neighbors outside the building, which is standard for Bushwick. My windows always leaked during rain - in 4 years i’ve probably had to get my windows fixed and repainted over ten times (the supers were always responsive). Biggest con is that the management (B&H Management) never returned my security deposit. And they also make all tenants send a full years worth of post-dated checks so they 1) ensure renters don’t skip on last months rent 2) keep the security deposit anyway.
Advice to owner:
If your tenant caused no problem and always paid rent on time, so them the courtesy of returning their security deposit.
