Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 286 Stanhope Street, Brooklyn highlight a prime location with excellent transit access and appealing rooftop amenities. Tenants appreciate the building's cleanliness, pest control, and conveniences like elevators and secure parking options. However, significant concerns persist about poor heating efficiency and noisy neighbors, especially due to a basement music studio and thin walls. Management responsiveness is generally criticized for delays and lack of communication, particularly regarding security issues like break-ins and package thefts. While the building has nice features, renters advise improvements in heating systems, noise control, security infrastructure, and more attentive management to enhance livability.

Paying for electric heat in a building made of paper mache
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location (right off the L) and I never saw a pest when I was there. Elevator is nice and roof is very cool.
Cons:
Management was shady and our electric bill was over $500 each winter month because the building is really poorly made and cold air flows in from everywhere. It’s extremely expensive to keep the apartment at 63 degrees. Management is also super shady and cut throat, but if you keep your head down you’re fine. Be wary of top floor units, they come with weird quirks.
Advice to owner:
Idk find religion or some other reason to care about someone other than yourself?

Apt. Fine, but location not the best
Former Tenant
Pros:
Elevator, keyless latch system, option for parking ( extra cost but secure)
Cons:
Location, bottom floor rented out to musicians who play late at night and are noisy. Bathroom is very cold, heaters are very loud.
Advice to owner:
New heating units.
