Totally neglectful management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Water pressure is great, no problem with heat. Super and porter are both nice and helpful.
Cons:
Building is very dirty, on the weekends there is often trash strewn everywhere and overflowing compactor rooms. The elevators always smell of urine. People leave so much trash in the stairwells and I often see and smell people smoking cigarettes and weed in the hallways. Management never responds to maintenance tickets. HUGE problem with package theft and management doesn’t do anything or respond to tenant complaints. There is often dog pee inside the lobby. Front door lock is always having problems -- either difficult to open or completely missing. I've had bedbugs in this building, I don't know why that isn't reflected in the bedbug status of this building (I suspect it's because the building doesn't report the info to the city that they are supposed to).
Advice to owner:
Respond to maintenance tickets in a timely fashion, clean the halls, take care of the trash problem, figure out some way to keep the mail area secure

Avoid at all costs
Former Tenant
Pros:
The unit itself wasn't terrible but the building is disgusting.
Cons:
Roaches, mold, trash, pee in the elevator. In the summer it's not bad but in the winter it stays 85 degrees with none of the radiators even open.
Advice to owner:
Do better for your tenants.

Don’t move here
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to prospect park
Cons:
Dirty. Noisy. Loud. Piss on the floor People outside loitering People smoking in hallways Garbage in hallways Loud music Kids in the hallway Packages get stolen No security It’s really disgusting And they won’t give security deposit back
Advice to owner:
Shame Shame Shame you are the reason why renting in New York City sucks.

Building is horrible
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close by stores , bars and not to far from the Q train
Cons:
A lot of noise in building with kids running around. Bad pipes had a bad leak from bathroom which caused it to need renovations.

Lovely Apartment; Trash Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Renovated apartments (only some are renovated) are fantastic, monthly exterminator but very few bugs anyway.
Cons:
Everything outside your door is a dumpster: screaming fights in the hallway at all hours, smoking in the hallway that comes through the door, trash and human filth in the elevators, roof access is not allowed and alarmed.
Advice to owner:
Hire building security to keep some degree of peace

DO NOT LIVE HERE
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good amount of room and new appliances in the apartment, which at the time had been recently renovated. The heat worked well. Mostly quiet street for NYC.
Cons:
Serious issues with neighbors. Frequent domestic disputes with police in the building often (we found out days after signing our lease that there had been a murder in the building one year prior). Smoking in the hallways. Absolutely gross hallways and stairways, elevators often had animal urine in them. Trash room would get disgustingly full. Rodents still got into our apartment even though it was renovated. A few roaches, too.
Advice to owner:
Do something about crime on your properties, and put a LOT more effort into keeping it clean.

This building is like living in a real life horror movie
Former Tenant
Pros:
- lord of storage space in apartments - huge bedrooms - updated and recently renovated kitchen - but none of that is worth it compared to everything else you have to go through living in this building
Cons:
- landlord does not care about the building or the tenants and will not fix anything, assist in any issues with apartments or tenants. Think of it like you don’t have a landlord at all, because that’s pretty much what it is. - the building has some... problematic tenants that cause a lot of trouble and violence in the building, of which the landlord and police do nothing - thus building is so regularly riddled with violence and aggression that the cops no linger prioritize coming here. they regard this building as a joke - my apartment was quickly renovated after the previous tenants DIED in the apartment and absolutely nobody mentioned this to me prior to my moving in - there was no mention of a cockroach infestation until I moved my refrigerator and found an open hall filled with cockroach nests - the tenants in this building regularly disobey and disregard the rules posted through the building. They also purposely start fights and attack newer tenants in the building. - the building as a whole is not maintained at all. the outdoor courtyards are riddled with garbage and rotten, moldy furniture. Trash rooms on each floor are overflowing into the hallway on an almost daily basis. Stairs are broken and rarely fixed. The elevators are out nearly every day and people often get trapped in them. - thus building also has a very serious theft problem. some tenants in the building take joy in attempting to (and sometimes succeeding) in breaking into other tenants apartments. it is also best to never have your mail delivered to the building, as mail gets stolen within seconds and again, the landlord does absolutely nothing about it. - all in all, I would suggest you do everything in your power to avoid living in this building.
Advice to owner:
take better care of the building and tenants!! if you do so, you will attract more tenants, and tenants who will stay for a long time and become loyal. This disregard you have for this building and your tenants, yet you still expect us to pay rent in full every month? It’s astonishing

Eye opening
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close proximity to the train
Cons:
The noise, the sanitation issues, the constant home repairs needed due to other apartments leaking.
Advice to owner:
Don’t just patch up old apartments and make them look new.

It’s decent at best
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location , neighborhood is decent. Good sized apartment
Cons:
Older finishing throughout building

AVOID this place for Safety, Cleanliness, and Accessibility
Former Tenant
Pros:
The lobby has potential to be really nice if it was kept up.
Cons:
I won’t be able to type everything out. But search “60 Clarkson Avenue NYPD” to start. At least get to the NYTimes profile of what this building was in 2015 and then know that little has changed.
