We have met lovely neighbors in this building, many who have lived here for a long time because the building is rent stabilized. The porter is very responsive, and there is a locker for packages in the building.
Cons:
We have had so many problems in this building. Elevator outages, major ceiling leaks, laundry machine outages, and the worst part is that the management company is absolutely negligent. One ceiling leak in our building took over two years to be addressed. Our current leak has been a problem since April 2025 and it's now September. We call, we email, we get in touch with the super, and the ONLY times we get responses are when we file or threaten to file a 311 complaint. If it weren't for the rent stabilization and the fact that we have been totally priced out of the building, we would have already moved. And our rent is not *that* low - we are currently paying about $2550/month for a two bedroom. This management company also owns some luxury buildings in New Jersey and it's clear that's all they care about.
Advice to owner:
Stop ignoring your tenants!

Don’t rent from SHAMCO
Former Tenant
Pros:
Pre-war building, Amazon hub, perfect location to everything, neighbors are great.
Cons:
We had bedbugs when we moved in and they did not disclose history of bedbugs Constant water leaks, management doesn’t care, there’s a new building manager every 3 months, smoking inside the building, overcharges on rent, harasses old tenants to try and kick them out for new ones, doesn’t listen to tenant complaints or needs
Advice to owner:
Stop being a slumlord and fix the building. You’re overcharging on rent as it is the least you can do is have your building and apartments up to par.
