Great Start Rental

Pros

I lived here years ago. At the time, it was: - spacious - clean - well maintained - great area (walking distance to many types of shops and stores and this is still the case!)

Cons

There was nothing that I didn’t like!

Advice to the owners

Continue keeping it clean, organized and secure. It’s great!

Good management good people

Pros

Bought a co-op in 2006. This is a simple building without a lot of frills but well managed. Management company seems responsive and engaged. Long time super is the mayor of the block but probably retiring soon. I've been on the board and lots of good and fiscally responsible improvements. They built storage units bike storage got a hybrid oil gas water heater that saved the building $30,000 a year got floor by floor thermostats which also saved a lot of money, new elevators, and they are putting in updated water piping with new pumps to make sure water pressure on the top floor is high enough. Kept pretty clean and the neighbors are nice but switching from long time locals to new whiter and wealthier tenants. They're nice but it's a change of culture. New mailboxes are lovely and a package room is coming up plus possibly a roof deck. Laundry in the building that was updated 5 or 6 years ago.

Cons

It has a very nice architecture but it's not what you would call a luxury building. Getting more so though. Built in 1935 so all the issues with old buildings including occasional water issues cracked plaster etc. But I'd like living here and I have never felt like the management or the super were indifferent

Advice to the owners

When the super retires it will be important to get a good new super. The super makes the building. Increase community building option if you can.
