Review Summary for 422 Lexington Avenue
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Tenant reviews for 422 Lexington Avenue, Brooklyn, reveal a mixed living experience. Many praise the building's clean, well-maintained environment, spacious and bright apartments, and amenities like a basement gym. Positive notes include generally good neighbors and responsive staff, contributing to a pleasant community feel. However, several renters highlight significant management deficiencies, including slow or inadequate maintenance responses, poor handling of pest infestations, water leaks, and noise issues. Heating is often cited as inefficient and costly, and some units suffer from aging or malfunctioning appliances. Overall, the building offers good potential if management improves maintenance responsiveness and addresses structural and appliance quality concerns.

Decent location, awful management, aging facilities
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice location in prime Bedstuy, gym in the basement is nice to have in winter, apartments have a lot of light.
Cons:
On moving day, I arrived to a top floor apartment with a hole in the ceiling that had not been there when I viewed the place three weeks earlier. Construction was left unfinished and I lived for 6 fall/winter months with leaking ceiling in the kitchen and living room. Constant insect infestations from day 1 (even in fall and winter). The oven never worked and temperature markings had rubbed off but not allowed to replace.
HVAC units full of a black powder that went all over the walls, I had to pressure for a mold check and cleaning.
Shared spaces like the lounge are a joke, usually trashed and stained with no internet. Thin walls with neighbors, could even hear in the bedroom when the toilet flushes next door. Neighbors with adjacent balcony partied and used heavy drugs all hours of the day, building did nothing despite repeated complaints and admissions that they know all about the situation.

To top it off, when I moved out I was charged hundreds of dollars for “significant damage” from a few picture hook holes in the bedroom. They still moved the new tenants in the very next day.

Maybe the building was nice when first opened but it’s poorly maintained and no amount of perfumed air spray in the lobby can mask that. Building management is a joke.
Advice to owner:

Pros:
I’ve been living here for almost 2 years and I still love the apartment. It’s very clean and always smells good
Cons:
Sometimes when you submit a maintenance request they respond slow and take awhile to fix the issue.
