Stay away from 26 Broome Street in Brooklyn!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good Location. Nice street.
Cons:
Unresponsive ownership. Useless super. MAJOR flooding issues in basement common areas and from ceilings. BLACK MOLD. Bugs, flies, roaches, knats.
Advice to owner:
Tear down the building and start from scratch. Definite black mold issues. Photographed and documented. Owners refused to fix problem, and instead ran out tenants after a sale and tripled the rent.

Okay, not great
Former Tenant
Pros:
it’s a new-ish building though outdated finishes., good daylighting. Neighbors haven’t been an issue.
Cons:
Not kept up well. Needs a refurb. No buzzer entry, door is falling apart (both building and unit door). Dishwasher is always full of moldy liquid because it wasn’t installed properly. Bathroom exhaust doesn’t work. Pile of trash in the back courtyard has been there 11 months. Apartment is in pretty bad shape and owner does not care. Trash and broken glass piles up regularly on entry way. Basement flooded during IDA and nobody has cleaned up. Skylight glass broke and it took two months and flooding in the hallway for them to come fix it (in spite of submitting maintenance requests). Noise from potholes on McGuinness can be annoying.
Advice to owner:
Do annual maintenance, get a better property management company. This place is in shambles and you clearly don’t care about your tenants. Better channels of communication are needed for repairs/issues.
