Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 385 Vernon Avenue in Brooklyn reveal significant concerns about management and building conditions. Tenants cite severe issues with heating, pest infestations (rodents and cockroaches), poor cleanliness, and inconsistent water pressure. Noise levels are generally a problem, exacerbated by ongoing construction and nearby bars. Security is another worry, with multiple reports of theft and break-ins. Although residents appreciate the building’s location, unit sizes, and some modern fixtures, many criticize the unresponsiveness and negligence of management, especially in handling maintenance emergencies and lease communications. Frequent complaints about rent hikes and deposit disputes further diminish tenant satisfaction, making it a challenging place to reside long-term.

Former Tenant
Pros:
Great room sizes. Dishwasher. Water pressure and hot water. Washing machines are OK when they’re working.
Cons:
Had a rodent issue for months in the winter. Fly issues in the summer. Not enough ventilation throughout the apartment. In winter freezes ..forget about heat. Management sucks. Be sure to review your lease and make sure they give you at least 30-90 day notice before terminating lease
Advice to owner:
Communicate better. Not responding is negligent.

Pros:
- Cheap rent - Close to Myrtle/Broadway stop - Washer/Dryer in Basement - Small Parking Lot - Bar next door plays loud music til 5am
Cons:
- Cockroaches and Rats or Mice periodically visit in apts - in between 3 buildings being constructed - Management barely responds and/or cares - Theft in Parking Lot, first floor apts, and basement is known to happen - Heat barely works - Apt was dirty when moved in and just told to leave it how we got it - Building cameras don’t work?
