Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 63 Lewis Ave, Brooklyn present a mixed picture. Some tenants value the building's convenient location near transit, amenities like a gym, elevator, bike room, and package room, and praise the responsive management and quiet neighbors. However, other renters report serious issues including poor cleanliness—especially in common areas and the gym—unaddressed maintenance problems, pest concerns, and weak water pressure. Several reviews highlight noisy neighbors, poor management responsiveness, tenant harassment, security issues, and unprofessional conduct. High tenant turnover and violations suggest ongoing habitability challenges. While some appreciate the building's features, potential renters should carefully consider management quality and upkeep before deciding.

👍 Great Building with Responsive Management
Former Tenant
Pros:
Overall, this is a really solid building. There’s a bike room, elevator, trash chutes, package room, intercom, and it’s close to the train, which makes life super convenient. The neighbors are quiet, and management is very responsive — any issues I’ve brought up have been addressed quickly.
There’s also a gym on site, which is a nice bonus.
Cons:
Whoever mops the floors doesn’t do a great job, and the gym is often very dirty — it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned properly in ages.
Advice to owner:
The one area that really needs attention is cleaning, especially the gym and common floors.

Avoid This Building at All Costs – Know Your Tenant Rights
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nothing…. The unit seems nice but there’s a ton of issues with this building and unit
Cons:
- not near any lines (m/j) are always down - tenant harassment!!! - terrible management - noisy neighbors - building gets broken into all the time - packages stolen
Advice to owner:
If you’re considering living here, be prepared to fight for your basic tenant rights. Management is unprofessional, incompetent, and negligent. They attempt to intimidate tenants instead of following legal obligations and rely on people not knowing the law. Here’s what you need to know: • Failure to follow NYC tenant laws – including not providing required documentation and neglecting maintenance issues. • Numerous open HPD violations (at least 12 reported), indicating ongoing issues with maintenance, safety, and habitability that remain unaddressed. • Disorganized and hostile management. Expect them to ignore requests, gaslight tenants about the condition of the apartment, and attempt to place blame on tenants for issues that arise. • Security deposit issues. Expect them to try to keep it, as they either don’t know tenant laws or deliberately make your life difficult by pretending not to. • High tenant turnover. Few people stay for long, and it’s easy to see why. Unless you have the time, legal knowledge, and mental energy to constantly fight for basic livability, do not rent here. This building should be shut down. There are plenty of better-managed buildings in NYC—save yourself the stress and choose somewhere else.
