Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews for 48-11 Skillman Avenue highlight its rent-stabilized status and a spacious lobby with a larger-than-average elevator as notable positives. Tenants generally report good heating, quiet noise levels, and friendly neighbors, which contribute to a comfortable living environment. However, persistent pest issues, particularly cockroaches, and maintenance concerns such as outdated apartment designs and occasional water damage are recurring drawbacks. Some renters express dissatisfaction with owner responsiveness and building upkeep, suggesting improvements like repainting, modernizing units, and adopting digital rent payments. Overall, while the building offers affordability and community advantages, efforts in maintenance and management communication could enhance tenant satisfaction.

Advice to the owners

You don’t need to necessarily invest a lot of money but scrape the old paint and repaint nicely. Easy and doesn’t cost much. Add a way to pay rent digitally. Checks are a waste of money. Update your systems. Also answer emails more frequently. Sometimes it’s hard to get through by email. My family moved in the late 70’s. This app won’t allow me to choose way back then lol.
