Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenant reviews for 29-8 31 AVENUE in Queens highlight a convenient location. However, the building suffers from poor management, unresponsive owners, and various maintenance issues like non-functional washing machines, plumbing, and inadequate heat/hot water. Tenants face pest problems and security issues like stolen packages. Recommendations call for a complete overhaul in management and better maintenance practices. Despite decent apartment sizes, the overall consensus advises against living in this building due to severe operational deficiencies, lack of COVID considerations, and an overall unresponsive and negligent management approach.

Two Year Resident
Former Tenant
Pros:
The apartment was quiet
Cons:
The super is impossible to get in-touch with. I had to go through the management company to get any sort of help and even that was a struggle.
Advice to owner:
Pick up your phone Alden. You work for the building and tenants. I answer the phone when my job calls

They honestly don’t care
Former Tenant
Pros:
Apartments are decent sized
Cons:
No Covid accommodations on rent unless mandated by law. No leniency on breaking lease, even during pandemic. Laundry room on site, but dryers frequently out of service. Occasional stolen packages, and no security cameras placed in common area or mail room. Without gas for over 1 month during the winter 2021 - still not on for entire building lines. Took apart the kitchen storage to replace the heat, and never put the storage back in even when the gas line was reconnected. Severe cockroach problem even after 2 times exterminating - we’re talking climbing all over the walls and beds throughout the day and night. Heat is only on for about 1 hour each day - building has a D rating on heat conservation so it’s hemorrhaging heat on a daily basis. Whenever you email the building manager he says the heat is on based on a remote thermometer - sent photos of independent verification that heat is not on, but emails are ignored (building manager claims they must have “gone to his spam folder”).
Advice to owner:
Definition of a slum lord, avoid this building at all costs.
