Crazy landlord don’t come
Former Tenant
Pros:
No pros worth dealing with landlord
Cons:
The owner, Maria is an absolute maniac. She has made living here hell. She decided to start painting the apartment the day we moved in - literally, as we were moving boxes and furniture in. She had 2 full weeks to do this. The bathroom also was not ready on our arrival (this isn’t a new apartment!) and we had to use the bathroom in an empty unit next door for the first week. Then, this winter, our fridge broke. She told us it was our fault (it wasn’t) and didn’t replace it for 2 months because she didn’t want to pay $200 more for a fridge that could have been there immediately. Again, she told us to use the fridge in the empty unit next door - which she also uses for herself. She constantly makes up reasons to come inside our apartment. It’s one thing after another. And now when we are trying to move out, she makes it impossible to mail out boxes or sell furniture without absolutely berating us at every step. She got mad at me for selling my furniture without telling her, and literally screamed at me in the hallway as i was trying to move it out, then closed the door on me to lock me out. She banged on our door and repeatedly called me one night at MIDNIGHT for leaving a box in the hallway. If you want an apartment where you can live your own life, free from constant interference and harassment from your landlord, don’t live here! She also kept our security deposit even though the apartment was completely undamaged.

Save yourself by not renting this apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
Neighbors were decent. Safe area
Cons:
Landlord is the worst. Intrusive, obsessive, rude. Didn't return security deposit though left apartment better than received it. Closet door broke and never got fixed. Had cockroaches that were never dealt with. Landlord refuses to reason with you and will fault you for anything from inviting your sibling to visit, to closing your door too loudly. Do not rent this apartment.
Advice to owner:
Leave people alone.

DO NOT MOVE HERE
Former Tenant
Pros:
Only pro is that its in a good location.
Cons:
-landlord was in the apartment all the time -she even would come in without notifying us, including one time when I was presenting in a meeting and she was yelling in my living room -she commented on all of our stuff and investigated everything every time she came in -including investigating the shower because she was concerned we didn’t leave the door open enough for the bathroom to ventilate -the fire alarm went off every time we cooked because the stove does not have proper ventilation -had to shower in the apartment next door as our tub wasn’t properly fitted (even though she had 2 weeks notice from when we signed the actual lease) -added things to the lease at the lease signing, and very specific details (no bikes allowed in the building, no moving outside regulated hours, no draino, need to clean thoroughly when you move out, etc.) -spent 2 weeks fixing a leak in a pipe, would come in every single day for at least 2 hours to check on it -would constantly schedule appointments/maintenance without our permission/availability -banged on the door at midnight and repeatedly called when we put boxes in the hallway to move out -would not let us move ANYTHING out without watching over us -told us we were using the wrong garbage bags and had to buy new ones -made us put lining in every cabinet to prevent damage a week after we moved in -asked her to put our closet doors back on before we moved in, and she never did because she said she didn’t know how -had a cockroach in my bed, and another tenant did as well. Absolutely disgusting! -got mad at my roommate for going to work at 5 am, when no other tenants complained -went through the garbage -rented me the AC in the apartment for $200 and then at the end of the lease she said she couldn’t buy it back because it was a year old Overall, the landlord is super unaccommodating, rude and disrespectful of your space. I have developed massive anxiety towards her, and am so glad to be rid of her burden. Did not get security back either as she claimed we gave her too late of a notice for moving. Apartment was spotless, and had no damage (besides her damage from renovations). Move somewhere else, not worth it.
Advice to owner:
Your tenants are renting property from you, it’s their space. Respect it or don’t be a landlord.

Landlord is insane
Former Tenant
Pros:
Nice building, clean, high quality. Well laid out apartments with recent upgrades. Good bones - the walls are thick and you can’t hear your neighbors.
Cons:
Maria, the owner, is a terrible person. She verbally berates her tenants. She told my neighbor that she was a “party girl from a bad family” when two guests left after 11pm. She told my movers that they were a fake moving company, their COI was fake, and that their business was a “bullshit lie.” (it was not). She imposes random fees ($50 an hour for moving out after 4pm, written on a note card and texted to me a week before I was scheduled to move) and is rude to me when I tell her I will not pay them as they are not specified in the lease. She told my roommate that the hot water problem was her own fault (it was not). Her building is like a family in that she is an abusive mother who gaslights her tenants. Not worth it.
Advice to owner:
Stop being a bitch.
