Worst apartment I’ve lived in by miles
Former Tenant
Pros:
The lobby is nice.
Cons:
Elevator often broken in a 6 floor building. People throw garbage on the floor in the trash chute and there’s mice hanging out in there. Mice all over the apartment and can hear them running inside the walls/tub. Roaches of all size were very common. Intense mold in bathroom and eventually spread to the living room. Grew up in this apartment and my only dream was to gtfo of there asap.
Advice to owner:
Read the comments please

RUN AWAY. Poorly maintained building, super is a jerk.
Former Tenant
Pros:
convenient location: very close to subway stations, grocery stores, and restaurants.
Cons:
Where do I begin? The apartment will have many issues when you move in e.g. broken toilet seat, missing window locks, etc. The super, Elvis, is an objectively horrible human being who will always try to invalidate your concern or shout at you if you have multiple complaints. He never arrives at the time/date decided unless you call/remind him. There is a cockroach and mice infestation in the whole building, but management only has exterminators treat specific units if they request treatment. Garbage chutes always have roaches running in them. Neighbors often cook strong smelling food and leave doors open to fill the building with a strong smell. Management mostly does not get things done on time and dismisses concedns. Elevator was broken for months, and people had to leave their prams/carts on the ground floor. There are always leaks in the building, so every few weeks, the water supply is turned off with ZERO notice for around an hour while the super tries to fix them.
Advice to owner:
- implement real solutions to improve the whole building, instead of band-aids - fire the super, and hire a better team - develop a better way to intake requests and communicate building-wide issues to tenants

Worst place I've ever lived
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is the pro
Cons:
Everything else! There is no management, we've had a leak for years, bathroom ceiling is collapsing, MAJOR pest infestation, no heat. There is an apartment with aggressive, violent people in it. If they're still there by the time this gets public it is apartment 4D. We've filed over 100 noise complaints with the police, nothing was done. Asked the landlord to do something, he said "there is nothing I can do, call the police." 4D is awful, pounding bass music that shakes the floor and walls, powerful enough to break furniture and knock things off shelves. When confronted they get violent! At one point I thought they were going to kill someone who asked them to calm down.
Advice to owner:
EVICT APARTMENT 4D Respond to messages and fix all the leaks!

Nice Apts, Lazy Super
Former Tenant
Pros:
Large size apartments In building laundry Elevators Virtual doorman Hot water included Allows pets Bi-monthly pest control visits
Cons:
Elevators always broken Virtual doorman always broken Superintendent never fixes things Thin walls Can't get any other internet/cable provider except the one the building cut a deal with Roaches and rodents are a consistent thing no matter what Multiple units have had bedbugs and the super blames YOU and will not help in any way.
Advice to owner:
Fix the ongoing issues. Elevators and virtual doorman are constantly broken and never fixed.

elevators never work
Former Tenant
Pros:
The porter of the building is very nice and helpful.
Cons:
The neighborhood is extremely loud. Sirens pass every five minutes. There’s also homeless people milling about and yelling. The apartment I’m in faces the street so it is VERY loud. The apartment came with a broken, taped to the wall radiator in both the kitchen and the living room. All of the door knobs are falling off. The building is very old. The elevators never work and I got stuck in one of them and my wrist almost crushed by the door. Twice I have exited the building and found homeless people in the lobby. There is basically no floor in one section of the lobby. It is covered up by slats of wood and rug. The laundry machines usually don’t work. I could go on and on.
Advice to owner:
Take care of your building. Maybe your tenants will respect you more.

STAY A WAY IF YOU CAN!!!
Former Tenant
Pros:
Convenience location. Close to the M,R Trian stations many supermarkets, deli stores, and many great restaurants.
Cons:
1.) Rat issues. I found a dead rat inside my kitchen cabinet three months after I moved in. Had multiple occasion where I hear crawling noises from the kitchen. 2.)Roach Infection, the whole pest situation is very serious and concerning. The building is old and dirty. If you want to live here, you will be living with countless of roaches. I tried anything, from baits to traps to sprays, nothing works. 3.) During the summer, the fruit flies and flies issues is very concerning as well. You will see numbers of flies flying around the hallway. Have to be cautious every time I open the door and make sure no flies get in. 4.)Noisy Neighbor, please don't live in the 2nd floor if you really want to live here. Someone in the 2nd floor has a parrot, that little bird screams 18 hours a day non stop. And kids running around, screaming, crying, a nightmare if you want a quiet place to stay. 5.)The building management and live in super are scams, they never reply pick up your phone or response to your questions. Their most responsive moment is when you sign your lease and pay your deposit. 6.) Heat: The heat is broken during winter. Go to 311 and look at all the complains from last winter. My advise: stay a way from this trashy building! You can find much better and cleaner building with the same price!
Advice to owner:
Do better.

terrible place nice people
Former Tenant
Pros:
tenants are nice the super and management are terrible. no water no heat, they cook us alive or freeze us to death.
Cons:
As I mentioned, they are terrible with water and heat and maintenance, and pests are everywhere. no cleaning prior or post covid. no pest control. no handicap enterance. Super ignores calls and has not fixed anything. I have a recording of him yelling at my father because he did not want to wear a mask while fixing our unit. He screams and does no clean-up after any repairs. He has used the funding for the apartment to update his own private section of the apartment and his unit. He parks his van and motorcycle in places that should be open to the public. He does not do anything literally. No garbage no grounds maintenance. Useless man.
Advice to owner:
fire the super.

Nice people but terrible management
Former Tenant
Pros:
The people that have lived here for a long time are very nice the new people are not. The water pressure is good and the ceilings are nice and high and has good natural light. The man who manages the garbage, small maintenance and the garden is amazing and actually the person who should be praised.
Cons:
The super is terrible absolutely terrible. His entire family is terrible as well. They all supposedly “work” to manage the building but they used the funds to only make their area of the apartment better while every other week packages are stolen, pests, broken elevator, no heat. The super cares about stupid things and not the well being of the entire apartment. Avoids people, are rude to them, never fixes problems, the list goes on and on.

This building is mediocre at best
Former Tenant
Pros:
Neighbors are overall respectful and mindful of noise.
Cons:
This building is filled with mold, especially on the 6th floor. During the entire pandemic, this building was rarely sanitized. Even pre pandemic, you would hardly see anyone sweep or mop the lobby or hallways. One can tell that they didn't clean when u see the same piece of trash in a corner for days or weeks on end. If one were to browse the hallways on the upper levels, one can see filthy walls that have not been painted or cleaned since at least 2012 (being generous with the estimate here). Recently they started doing construction in the lobby and only painted the lobby walls. However the hallways on upper levels is very filthy. This building has had pest issues for years. This includes roaches, mice, and bed bugs. Huge rodent problem in this building. Management in this building is subpar. When these issues are brought up to the management office, they act as if there is no problem. For example, you show them where there is mold (and I know what mold looks like) they will just stare at the mold and say, "thats not mold." They only try to help if you contact 311. This building is not worth market rate prices to live in a pest infested, dusty, crusty, run down building with subpar help from management. And don't even get me started on the cold winters due to lack of heat in this building. They either try to cook you up and blast the heat, or freeze you and don't turn on the heat at all. No in between. They also turn off the water (or only turn off hot water) at inconvenient hours. Another major problem in this building are package thieves. It is absolutely pointless to have cameras in the lobby if packages keep getting stolen. Multiple neighbors including myself have complained about package thieves. Mail carriers have started to just dump packages in the lobby and their are no lockers in this building. So good luck if you receive a package while you are at work. Do not count to find it when you get home because chances are it will be gone. It has gotten so bad to the point where I just put my work address and receive my packages at work because way too many of my packages have been taken, even within minutes of getting the arrival notification, my packages just mysteriously disappear 🙃.
Advice to owner:
Get it together please. P.s. get some electronic lockers for packages.
