Don’t let the nice pictures fool you
Former Tenant
Pros:
Historic building, pin-drop quiet street, wonderful neighbors (for the most part)
Cons:
Where to begin? Landlords act in nothing but bad faith, watch you through their 8 (!) security cameras day and night, and take issue with anyone entering the building besides those on the lease (not even talking parties here. like, furniture delivery people). RAISED rent during peak Covid, forced us to pay in cash to avoid taxes, and the last three tenants, ourselves included, have all had to threaten or actually take them to small claims to get our security deposits back (and even then, they ignore the court order and still refuse payment). Front door to unit can be easily pulled open even when locked (landlord says “it’s a safe neighborhood, get over it”). Unit appears cosmetically well kept but there's a mouse problem, chronic roach and carpenter ant infestation, and water damage that is constantly shrugged off. All this while they drive luxury cars and go on lavish vacations. It’s a large space on a beautiful block, and the neighbors are lovely, but absolutely not worth the stress. Don’t touch it with a ten foot pole.
Advice to owner:
You are not above the law! If three sets of tenants have had to take you to court, maybe you’re the problem.
