The Den of Frolicking Rats and Thieves
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building is very close to Prospect Park and is also around the corner from the Q subway station.
Cons:
Let me start off by saying that I pay my rent on time every month. I am a great tenant who is quiet, clean, and responsible. Which that being said, where do I begin? We have “cameras” in the building, yet packages are constantly being stolen because they don’t work and people prop the door open. Oh, and the VERMIN are out of control! There are rat holes all over the front yard and they have easy access to the basement because there aren’t any real windows—just holes that they climb through. The only way to describe them is that they frolic, yes FROLIC in the yard and around the garbage. Good luck taking your trash out at night; you’re liable to loose a limb because they’re so loud and aggressive. I feel sorry for the porters who live in the basement apartment…who knows what they go through on a daily basis. The elevator is scary and should have been replaced years ago…I know others have been stuck inside of it, but I can confirm that I have also had the unfortunate pleasure of being trapped inside myself a few times (I just take the stairs now). I’ve called 311, but management probably won’t do anything about it until someone gets hurt. The management company and the landlord do not care about this building; they’re content with letting it crumble around our ears. It should be maintained since the building is almost 100 years old, but they don’t care. It took them four months to fix a leak in my apartment (I had to threaten legal action before they finally repaired it. There is no email or emergency number…you can only get a person Monday to Thursday from 9-5 and Friday from 9-12 IF you’re lucky. No email address to leave a paper trail…NOTHING. The landlord, Moshe Piller, is being sued by NYC as of this posting, but he’ll probably just pay the violations and still won’t fix anything. Good luck if you decide to move here; he will take your money and throw you to the wolves.
Advice to owner:
This building is almost 100 years old. Please invest some money back into it and make it a safe space to live.

Pros:
You can rent without background check or credit check.
Cons:
it is a very old building with a lot of cracks, uneven floors, and a lot of water damage. leaks happen regularly. there is a mice infestation throughout the building and also roaches. they will refuse to fix things in your apartment until you call 311 and get the new york department of housing preservation involved.

The building it super dirty
Former Tenant
Pros:
It’s a place to live and not be homeless
Cons:
Garbage always in the hallway. They never mop I have to mop my side. The elevator never works. The super is never available but is always drinking in the basement and letting everyone get High down there. He locks the elevator when it is working so we can’t go down to throw our garbage out but it’s because he has ppl there drinking and about 5 ppl living there.
Advice to owner:
Get a new super and put some cameras that work.

Life at 710
Former Tenant
Pros:
Apartments are large
Cons:
1. Not clean 2. Not enough light in building
Advice to owner:
1. Clean the building. Mopping 6 floors with one bucket of water is NOT cleaning. That’s spreading filth. 2. Insert high led lights to brighten up the building. Also install lights in the staircases.
