Overall 7 on 10
Former Tenant
Pros:
Flooring superb, spacious living area, nice people, big fridge, well-sized bathroom
Cons:
Walk-up, cockroach problem, radiators
Nice building, poor management
Former Tenant
Pros:
I love the neighborhood and the updated finishes in the apartment.
Cons:
Management is unresponsive. They turned off cooking gas for an “inspection” that was supposed to last 2 weeks that actually lasted about 4 months with no adjustments to the rent. In addition to this, whatever opening of walls they had to do to adjust the gas created a pest problem. They never communicated when people were coming by to drop off appliances or inspect the apartment which was disruptive. At one point a new oven was dropped off without the old one being discarded so I had two ovens taking up half of my very small apartment. We tried to negotiate lower rent because of all of this and I had to email 3 times before getting a singe lien response “we’re not interested in negotiating”. Upon moving out when it was time for the super to inspect the apartment and collect our keys they were 2 hours late.
Advice to owner:
Communicate more effectively and understand that your tenants are people and not just paychecks

Welcome to the Roach Motel
Former Tenant
Pros:
Wonderful neighbors who have been there for decades. Apartments look good at first glance but beware and don't be fooled.
Cons:
German cockroach infested!! Get out!! Once you have German cockroaches in a building you can't get rid of them unless you find and get rid of the nest in the building. You will have baby roaches and grown roaches everywhere day and night no matter how clean you keep your apartment. No, management will not take care of them and monthly and bimonthly extermination appointments will do nothing to get rid of them. You are sitting on a giant nest. Horrible horrible management and landlord trying to take advantage of people. Some of the worst in the city who simply do not care. They don't have anyone hired to clean the building and rely on tenants to try and do a job that isn't theirs. Also, so many appliances are broken. DO NOT LIVE IN THIS BUILDING NO MATTER WHAT!!
Advice to owner:
Stop taking advantage of people. It's so dangerous and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Worst rental experience
Former Tenant
Pros:
Washer and dryer
Cons:
Management ignores you, no gas for six months, no heat in the middle of winter, no exterminator for three months, no working stove, no working oven, no working microwave, faulty cabinets, no working washer and dryer, brown bathwater, leaky refrigerator, moldy dishwasher, incompetent supers and negligent landlords. Disrespectful and insanely loud neighbors all times of day and night all year round. The list goes on

Would not rent
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great neighbors, great location, got full security deposit back
Cons:
Roaches!! Unresponsive management
Disgusting roach infestation
Former Tenant
Pros:
Newly renovated apartment appears really nice at first glance.
Cons:
Roach infestation for years and they refuse to do anything about it. They send an exterminator every month or so to spritz around the apartments that want it, but it doesn’t do anything. The problem is much deeper, it’s in the walls, behind the appliances, it’s the entire building. In the 19 years and 6 apartments I’ve been in, in this area, I have never experienced anything like it.

There isn’t proper garbage management.

Management is awful, it’s impossible to get a hold of anyone none of the phone numbers they give you work, and if you manage to find a working number, they won’t get back to you.

The neighborhood is great in so many aspects, except for right in front of our building, it’s the absolute loudest at all times of the day and night from people hanging out on the stoop and blasting music from their cars parked out front.

Advice to owner:
This building has so much potential, I want to love it, but the way it’s currently being managed is unacceptable by any living standards.

ROACH INFESTATION FOR YEARS
Former Tenant
Pros:
Location and neighbors
Cons:
Overpriced, roach infestation, terrible management, súper with attitude. Roaches all over food, clothes, walls, etc. Management depends in long term resident who volunteers to clean the building, otherwise waste management would be an issue (and it has been in the past when this person is not around to help).

Also had constant issues with hot water. And be ware, THE STREET IS VERY NOISY.
Advice to owner:
Pest control is just not helpful anymore. Pay for the building’s trash disposal or recognize the job of the residents helping out.

Not worth the headaches
Former Tenant
Pros:
New units look updated. They typically have dishwashers and laundry.
Cons:
Poorly maintained, below the new coat of paint everything is falling apart and management couldn’t care less. The radiators are so loud I can’t even sleep through the frequent noise with earplugs. It’s like someone violently hammering against the pipes several times a day when cold.
Advice to owner:
Do your job.

Beware of roaches
Former Tenant
Pros:
The location is good, the neighbors were all pretty friendly, the washer dryer in unit was a plus.
Cons:
Tons of stoopers that constantly comgregrated on the steps and blasted loud music. Our apartment had a disgusting roach problem that affected us for half of our lease - had no luck getting help from the property management company or 311. The super was incredibly unreliable and wouldn’t show up for things when he said he would.
Advice to owner:
Bug bomb the building
