What happens when a landlord doesn't care.
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great heat. Specially during the winter.
Cons:
Extremely dirty building with a neglectful landlord and lazy care takers. The garbage shoot was close because of laziness by the super. As a result, this building is now overrunned by huge roaches and constant mice problem. There's constant water leaks which rarely gets fixed. Elevator is constantly broken down. The lobby ceiling falling because of bad patch work repairs. Lobby door is also has a constant locking problem. Which allows neighborhood homeless and thugs into the building to hangout in the staircases. These stair cases are extremely dark that you run the risk of being attacked or raped simply by using them. The parking garage has rodents problem and cars are constantly broken into or damaged. And none of the security cameras work. To sum it up. In the last 7 years the landlord has basically abandoned this building. Covid can't be used as an excuse by this landlord.
Advice to owner:
My advice would be to sell the building if she don't plan on taking care of this building. Because it's obvious she no longer cares for this building. Also to add security guard and working surveillance camera. Safety for the tenants and tbeir famies should be a priority. Also to hire a staff that would put in the work to get this building to the way it was. And re-open tbe garbage shoot and compactor. We know from previous super that it's not broken.

Owners don’t care about the tenants
Former Tenant
Pros:
Apartments are big.
Cons:
Owners do not put safety precautions so that kids from the other buildings do not utilize the building as a hang out spot. The front door doesn’t lock.
Advice to owner:
Answer your tenants! Help to maintain the building. Whatever happened to cleaning the hallways once a day? Or fixing the common spaces of the building.
