Good Location but apartment leaves alot to be desired

good location and quiet in the back apartments
Cons:
for the most part it was relatively pest free in fall/winter but i had ant problems through my fire escape window in the spring, and cockaroaches in the summer.

had packages stolen couple times, intercom system would have package delivery drivers callling me to open door for packages i didnt even receieve.

Don't live here - No hot water, dirty, horrible management

Nothing is good about this place except it being LES
Cons:
- No hot water (lived here for only 29 days because of this)
- Inefficent baseboard heating
- High energy bills ($414 for 200 sq ft studio)
- Building manager is a huge bully- his name is Brian Reilly
- Security deposit was not returned despite the manager assuring me he'd process it “right away” once I vacated
- Incompetent and unempathetic super team (when you call about not having hot water they just come over and argue with you)
- Dirty building

A great building

Well maintained, quiet prewar building in a great location. Lived in the apartment for multiple years with no problems. Door intercom was updated while I was living here.
Cons:
The neighboring building would do maintenance on outdoor AC units outside the bedroom windows in the summer that would be noisy. Having workers right outside my bedroom windows meant I couldn't open my blinds during the day.

How can you overcharge when there are over 40 complaints against this building??

BEM is the BEST

- Clean common areas
- Virtual door key/package cage
- Reasonable rent increases
- Really wonderful management company
Cons:
A few of the neighbors had a loose relationship with general "quiet" hours, ie: blasting music in the middle of the night. However, management was incredibly responsive and we felt they were managing it the best they could.
Advice to owner:
Keep doing what you are doing! We miss BEM :)

Decent Old School Building in Little Italy

Great location and nice neighbors, many of whom have lived there for decades.
Cons:
Building is old and worn around the edges. The neighborhood is very loud given the tourist area. Also issues with package theft given high traffic area.
