Overall a great place
Former Tenant
Pros:
The building has pre-war building charm but updates when needed, like installing completely new elevators about 7 years ago. Water pressure is good. Almost no issues with heat or hot water. The super and his family are very friendly and responsive. They even handle packages in a locked room. Building is safe and well lit.
Neighbors seem to have been generally friendly over the years. It’s a pet-friendly and family-friendly building, if those matter.
The building is kept clean inside and the landscape is very well maintained.
A backyard/seating area was even created about 5 years ago.
Cons:
Occasionally people let their kids play and scream in the halls or main lobby and it echoes throughout.
Many outlets are older (two prong) and lack a neutral wire.
Although we technically sub-lease, there has been no proactive offers even after 15 years to make any improvements or renovations within the apartment. To be fair, we haven’t really contacted the owners to do so or ask if they would reimburse or lower rent.
Advice to owner:
Replace the aged buzzer/intercom system with a contemporary video system to increase safety and security for your residents.
