Tiny apartment filled with roaches

Small apartment, incredibly overpriced. Half (c) openigloo a mile to any train (c) openigloo station. Bathroom fan is unbelievably (c) openigloo loud. Two of the three (c) openigloo pre installed air conditioning needed (c) openigloo serious cleaning. Noise from the (c) openigloo street is SUPER loud. But (c) openigloo most importantly… ABSOLUTELY. INFESTED. WITH ROACHES. (c) openigloo And the landlord doesn’t care! (c) openigloo You will not go a (c) openigloo single night without seeing multiple (c) openigloo cockroaches. Doesn’t matter how many (c) openigloo traps, how many you kill, (c) openigloo how much you clean. They (c) openigloo need to actually fumigate the (c) openigloo whole building but they’ll never (c) openigloo do that as long as (c) openigloo they can keep overcharging people (c) openigloo for a shitty apartment before (c) openigloo they know any better

I liked the location, proximity (c) openigloo to M15SBS bus and East (c) openigloo River, restaurants and bars within (c) openigloo walking distance. Lived here for (c) openigloo five years. Rent was raised (c) openigloo fifty dollars a year every (c) openigloo year we stayed. Hot water was (c) openigloo pretty reliable, only a couple (c) openigloo of days a year when (c) openigloo they were doing work on (c) openigloo it.
Cons:
Owner (Eli) pretends to just (c) openigloo be the manager. There are (c) openigloo roaches but it's manageable. Trash (c) openigloo area is infested with rats (c) openigloo attracted to restaurant on the (c) openigloo ground floor. Management won't fix anything (c) openigloo and often will send someone (c) openigloo over to mansplain to you (c) openigloo that nothing is broken and (c) openigloo no work is needed. There is (c) openigloo no on-site super (which I'm (c) openigloo pretty sure is illegal for (c) openigloo a building this size) so (c) openigloo if there's a huge water (c) openigloo leak the owner will just (c) openigloo say "deal with it until (c) openigloo the next day" as happened (c) openigloo one time. Our toilet barely (c) openigloo flushed for years and they (c) openigloo would never fix it. Traffic noise (c) openigloo from Madison is quite a (c) openigloo lot for the outside-facing units, (c) openigloo but neighbors were generally pretty (c) openigloo quiet with one or two (c) openigloo exceptions. Lots of turnover in (c) openigloo the building—it's often Pace students (c) openigloo who party hard and don't (c) openigloo stay longer than a year. Water (c) openigloo from the taps has a (c) openigloo rusty color, which is not (c) openigloo so uncommon for 100+ year (c) openigloo old buildings but is not (c) openigloo luxurious.
Advice to owner:
Fixing problems with the building will save you money in the long term.
Nice building but poor management

Pros:
Apts are more spacious and (c) openigloo cleaner compared to other buildings (c) openigloo in the neighborhoods
Cons:
We never know who the (c) openigloo landlord is and the super (c) openigloo manages everything which makes me (c) openigloo suspect he is the landlord. (c) openigloo Poor management, gas has been (c) openigloo shut off for more than (c) openigloo 2 months since July 2021 (c) openigloo and the super doesn’t even (c) openigloo communicate what happens and his (c) openigloo plans, anytime you make a (c) openigloo complaint he will ALWAYS find (c) openigloo excuses and gives you attitude, (c) openigloo and almost Never on time (c) openigloo to fix things for you, (c) openigloo so basically we work around (c) openigloo his schedule, the management is (c) openigloo what really will turn you (c) openigloo off.
Advice to owner:
Hireprofessional team! Stop being so cheap! Work on your communication skills!
Not the worst in Chinatown

Pros:
It offered abit more space (c) openigloo than the usual Chinatown apartment (c) openigloo and that’s it. Lots of (c) openigloo food options around. Fun if (c) openigloo you’re in your early 20s.
Cons:
Everything was falling apart. The (c) openigloo neighbors were loud and things (c) openigloo constantly smelled bad. The building (c) openigloo had major plumbing issues. The (c) openigloo apartment was very dated and (c) openigloo old. Neighborhood can be unsafe (c) openigloo depending on which side of (c) openigloo the street you’re on.
Advice to owner:
The building needs a major facelift or rent to match the condition it’s in.
