Review summary

Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on Openigloo.

Recent reviews of Norwax Associates Inc. managed buildings, particularly at 234 West 148 Street, reflect a well-maintained environment with clean common areas, good garbage management, and strong pest control. Residents appreciate spacious units, functional elevators, and proximity to transit and amenities. Neighbor relations and noise levels are generally positive. However, heating issues have been reported, and responsiveness can vary due to the co-op structure where units have different individual landlords, leading to inconsistent tenant experiences. Some tenants advise the management to improve knowledge of rental laws and ensure more attentive maintenance. Overall, the buildings are recommended for their location and facilities despite occasional landlord-related challenges.

I mean, it's a co-op so

Pros

Large units with good equipment. Elevator always worked. Decent amenities for a building of this size. Near transit

Cons

Neighborhood isnt great. Police precinct next door was quite a nuisance. Since each unit is owned by an individual, landlord experience will vary wildly. Unit came with non-functioning heat (not the fault of my landlord, to be fair). My landlord was responsive and put up the money to fix stuff since it was their home. Only issue is co-op landlords tend not to know the law around renting which caused problems on move-out.

Advice to the owners

To the building; not much To the landlords: learn about rental laws

Great Four Years

Pros

Quiet residential area Lots of restaurants/grocery stores/braid shops/barbershops/delis Nearby 3, ABCD Police station/park garage next door Building is nice Neighbors aren’t nosy at all

Cons

The stairwells don’t get cleaned as often, so the one waterbug I ever saw in my four years was down there on the street level. Not really a con, I’m just fishing for something to write honestly. The only other thing is not enough strength equipment in the gym. We didn’t need a Peloton…
