Slumlord from New York that doesn’t understand Boston tenant rights
Pros
Nice looking apartment, rooms aren’t touching each-other
Cons
Landlord was so against doing the most basic but necessary fixes. Fixing the broken lock on the door, fixing a window pane that just completely falls out so anyone could break in. (Took 6 months to fix after I got the city involved and sent a passive aggressive message as if I didn’t let her know about it within the first week of moving in) She lives on the property you’d think she’d be on top of it. Would act like she was making progress to get things fixed but never did until I got the City to order her bc it’s considered illegal. She was upset that I made moves since she didn’t and became super rude after that. Even her boyfriend got involved. Once he slammed our front door closed since we left it open doing multiple trips, never said Hi which I politely did everytime I saw her but she’d straight up ignore me, became super passive aggressive with any communications after that. She also tried to KEEP our security deposit for damages that her “maintenance” man made and for paint chips? Didn’t work out because we know our rights so of course we got it back. Also denied my esa pet even though the apartment is advertised as pet-friendly and the other neighbors had a dog. Her reasoning was she had allergies and a phobia which obviously wasn’t true since a dog lived on the property.
Advice to the owners
Just be nice! You made things harder for yourself then it needed to be..
