Review Summary for 191 Orchard Street
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 191 Orchard Street highlight its prime Lower East Side location, spacious apartments with ample natural light, and generally quiet, friendly neighbors. Residents appreciate proximity to subway lines, strong water pressure, and the large apartment sizes rare in Manhattan. However, major concerns include persistent pest infestations (rats and mice), poor garbage and recycling management, unpleasant odors within the building, and cleanliness issues—especially in common areas and basements. The building's aging infrastructure shows outdated wiring and inadequate maintenance. While some find management responsive, many criticize slow or ineffective owner responsiveness and call for improved upkeep and modernization to enhance living conditions.

Decent place to live
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great natural sunlight in the apartments, the street is super busy all the time but you can't really hear it from the apartments so thats a huge plus. The location is really nice (2 mins from the F and 10 from the 6) which makes it easy to go around the city without having to switch trains all the time.
Cons:
First of all theres no where to put your recycling, so if you have any packages you need to store them ALL (yes even if you just moved in and have hundreds) in your apartment until tuesdays when they pick it up. The super is chill and he gets his work done, but he is completely unresponsive. Lastly, and MOST importantly!!! There is PISSSS inside the building, on the first floor at all times. Yes, it travels through the buildings, and yes you can even smell it from your apartment if no one comes to clean it within a day (which is frequent). Even when they do clean it (again never within a few hours), pee pops right back up within a day or two. I think it might actually be making us sick!
Advice to owner:
Clean up the pee
