Review Summary for 139 Eldridge Street
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenant reviews of 139 Eldridge Street highlight its prime location and efficient heating system. Residents appreciate the responsive superintendent for timely repairs. However, criticisms include rude management, security concerns with stolen packages, and frequent maintenance issues in the old building. Despite positive aspects like convenient laundry facilities and the cultural neighborhood, severe pest issues and inadequate garbage disposal raise significant red flags. Suggestions include improving building upkeep and fostering direct communication with the owner for better trust-building. Mixed reviews make it vital for prospective renters to prioritize their needs and tolerance levels before considering this building.

A good deal for the amount, though you would not put up with it if it wasn't nyc
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location and a livable apartment, the super is easy to reach and he fixes things. This is an old radiator apartment, so the heat is great.
Cons:
People at the management company ERG are quite rude whenever they need to do something for you and you are of no value as a renter and can't be trusted, you are just $$ in their eyes. Though I guess this is no different from the whole city during this housing crisis, as they know you have no other options. I would have still liked to feel a little safer about not feeling like ERG is trying to screw me over every time I had to do something with them. The inside of the building is run down. Our packages get stolen once in a while. The buzzer is almost always broken. This is an old building, so a lot of things break regularly. The neighborhood is sometimes lovely sometimes sketchy.
Advice to owner:
I wish we had face to face contact with the owner and could build mutual trust rather than only having the management company as our contact

Former Tenant
Pros:
One of the cheaper places to rent
Cons:
Sometimes neighbors are noisy, building is kind of dirty as well.
Advice to owner:
I would say to clean up the building and replace some walls.
