Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent tenant reviews for 17 Rivington Street highlight its excellent location, good natural light, and spacious units. However, criticisms center around poor management, cleanliness issues, noisy neighbors, and pest problems. The presence of a loud bar on the ground level is a major concern, affecting residents' quality of life. Recommendations include improving management responsiveness, addressing noise and cleanliness issues, and taking action against disruptive bar activities. Despite some positives like rent-stabilized units and good water pressure, the overall consensus leans towards dissatisfaction and suggests a need for significant improvements in building maintenance and tenant comfort.

good location and light, not great management
Former Tenant
Pros:
location is great, looks at trees if in a street-facing unit, good light, no rat issues
Cons:
management is not the best, there is a stoop that is occasionally occupied by people rolling a joint / passed out druggies, packages get stolen, rent is paid with checks
Advice to owner:
be kinder to renters

You get what you pay for
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location, nice natural light, good price for the space.
Cons:
Tons of trash and vagrants in the entryway. The bar downstairs does a horrible job cleaning the area and it feels dirty. There are mice throughout the building, and they will send exterminators to help, but it’s difficult when they are so prevalent. There are several squatters in the building as well it seems, as well as a contractor who works in the basement, which is a fire hazard.
Advice to owner:
Work with Rays to keep the building clean. Do not rent out the basement to someone using heavy machinery.
