Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 406 East 9 Street highlight its prime Manhattan location and spacious units with good natural light. Tenants appreciate the relatively quiet atmosphere and friendly neighbors, as well as the hands-off management style allowing privacy. However, there are recurring concerns about building cleanliness, pest issues like occasional cockroaches, and maintenance problems, including poorly addressed leaks causing damage. Garbage management and owner responsiveness receive mixed feedback, with some advising more proactive management and regular cleaning crews. While some residents recommend cultivating a better rapport with the superintendent for quicker fixes, others feel emergency support could improve overall living conditions.

Fine for a Pre-War Building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location and basic needs met
Cons:
Standard pre-war building issues–a few cockroaches every now and again, nothing crazy. Not a very clean building but nothing particularly out of the norm for these kinds of apartments
Advice to owner:
Hire a regular cleaning crew and update apartment fixtures
