Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews for 31 East 1 Street, Manhattan emphasize its prime, central location with spacious units for the area, appealing especially to those who enjoy a lively neighborhood close to amenities like Whole Foods and subway access. However, cleanliness and maintenance are significant issues—tenants report persistent pest problems (rats, roaches, mosquitoes), plumbing leaks, inconsistent heating, and poor garbage management exacerbated by street-level disturbances. Management responsiveness is mixed but often criticized, with some tenants noting improvements while others feel ignored. Noise levels vary, fitting an active artsy crowd, but the building struggles with upkeep and common area cleanliness, which diminishes overall livability.

Former Tenant
Pros:
Location is very central. Decent sized space for the area.
Cons:
Roaches, mice, constant plumbing issues. Radiators work 50% of the time. Hot water will be off randomly with no notice. ConEd turned the gas off to the whole building for multiple weeks due to the buildings lack of maintenance. Stairwell is dirty, always in a state of "repair".
