A Serious Gem
Former Tenant
Pros:
Amazing location, building is cleaned regularly, the super is responsive and extremely competent, management is accommodating and reasonable. I know this sounds sponsored or something but I've genuinely had such a good experience here and compared to stories from friends it seems this is out of the ordinary.
Cons:
The only real con I can think of is that it's a walk-up, so definitely not accessible and the stairs are rather steep as well.
Advice to owner:
Keep doing what you're doing!

ok apartment - great super
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great location, in unit laundry, management is downstairs. The super Viktor is incredibly helpful - he’s great!
Cons:
Next to many restaurants on st marks, had a roach problem for a few weeks and they were incredibly unhelpful in fixing this. Do not recommend
Advice to owner:
Preemptively fix the roach issues

Good management, so-so apartments
Former Tenant
Pros:
- Reliable super - Pest problems taken care of immediately - Water and heat included - Good location
Cons:
- Noise from college students, but that's not really a con. Expect it with the area.

The New York Stereotype
Former Tenant
Pros:
Convenient location for the most part? The super was great at dealing with garbage and recycling!
Cons:
Where do I start?? Brown water, water leaking, SO many bugs, such steep stairs, things just randomly breaking without us doing anything, the fridge never worked properly, management would come in without us knowing, SO small, it never ends
Advice to owner:
Maybe answer my texts? call and exterminator?

first apartment
Former Tenant
Pros:
liked the location and the responsiveness of the management team
Cons:
I did not like the noise level of the neighbors and the fact that the door did not have a chain lock or a peep hole
Advice to owner:
add a chain lock and a peep hole to the doors and make sure packages downstairs are more secure

Okay but there were mice and landlord sucks
Former Tenant
Pros:
Lived here for 2 years, was mostly fine because I spent a lot of time out. Great location, very quiet if you’re on the non street-facing side of the building. Decent cleanliness / quality. Super (Victor) was chill
Cons:
We had mice for about a month but the super did come to plug any holes with steel wool which stopped them eventually. The super also took away the mice stuck on glue traps so we didn’t have to dispose of the mice / kill them. Management office is a nightmare to deal with. Harassed my roommate about why she wasn’t renewing the lease during COVID. The guy showing the apartment barged in without notice which is illegal I think. He also did not wear a mask even though my roommate was high risk (this was before vaccines). She repeatedly complained and nothing ever changed. They didn’t give us our security deposit back for months. I sent multiple emails, I even talked to a lawyer who told me that was illegal. When they did send us the security deposit they deducted hundreds of dollars for leaving things in the apartment, which we didn’t do. It’s also illegal to deduct things from the security deposit if you don’t give notice of that within a couple weeks. In conclusion they sucked

Rats everywhere in apt
Former Tenant
Pros:
Close to everything and nice location
Cons:
I only sub-leased this apt for a few months during the summer a couple of years ago and it was hands down the worst apt I’ve ever lived in during the 7 years I was renting around the area. 1. I killed more mice and rats in this apt than I’ve ever liked to kill in my lifetime. My roommate had a family of mice scurry from her closet to her door during day light. I was cooking once and a little mouse just ran across the top of the stove. This apartment building is above a grocery store and a ton of restaurants so of course there’s a rat problem. (Watch Rats by Morgan Spurlock - if you want a more in depth deep dive into the rat problem in NYC) - would not recommend for those with weak stomachs 2. It was so lout from the partying on saint marks every night I had to sleep with ear plugs
