Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews of 235 East 13 Street highlight its prime East Village location, spacious units, and well-kept common areas including a popular rooftop deck. Tenants frequently commend the friendly, responsive live-in supers who maintain cleanliness and building operations effectively. Water pressure and heating generally receive positive remarks, contributing to residents' comfort. However, persistent pest issues, mainly cockroach and occasional mice infestations, have been a considerable concern, with mixed experiences on management’s responsiveness. Noise levels vary due to thin walls and some inconsiderate neighbors, though many appreciate a mostly quiet environment. Overall, it’s a solid choice for renters valuing location, community, and amenities, but prospective tenants should weigh pest control and occasional noise challenges.

Constant untreated pest problems
Former Tenant
Pros:
The live in supers are very kind and responsive
Cons:
Since the day we moved in we had constant pest problems. There were always cockroaches crawling around the kitchen, sink, and dishwasher and the problem persisted despite signing up for the monthly exterminator. The exterminator they provided did the bare minimum and didn’t address the issue. A few months into living in the building we began having mice sightings - the landlord was incredibly intensive to this issue and most of the time I would have to call multiple times a day to get a hold of him and then he wouldn’t send an exterminator to address the issue until days later. The mice infestation became so bad we were seeing mice everyday including in the bedrooms. There was mouse poop under my bed and I could hear them in the walls and my room at night which led me to have to find alternate places to sleep for over a week. Exterminators came 3 times and despite catching 3 mice the problem persisted. One of the exterminators that was sent was incredibly disrespectful and refused to look in areas where I had previously documented activity. This issue and the managements extreme unresponsive is what caused me to move out.
Advice to owner:
Listen to your tenants when they have pest issues and work to address the root problem and truly rid the building of all pests!!!!
