Building Overview
Building Report
Review Summary for 128 Thompson Street
Summarized from anonymous rental reviews on openigloo.
Recent reviews indicate 128 Thompson Street's excellent location in SoHo, with amenities like in-unit laundry and proximity to stores and transportation. However, pest issues like mice and cockroaches are recurring problems, along with occasional thefts. The management's responsiveness varies, affecting repairs and cleanliness. Some tenants appreciate the building's stability and neighborly atmosphere despite noise concerns. Overall, the building's value is tied to its neighborhood appeal, but improvements in pest control, security measures, and management efficiency would significantly enhance the living experience for residents.

Good location but pest control could be better
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good location, nice to have a back yard
Cons:
There was a mouse infestation

Unresponsive and terrible management, don’t live here
Former Tenant
Pros:
-good location
-okay size
Cons:
-Landlord very unresponsive and hard to get to a hold of; getting them to take care of anything is painful and requires multiple phone calls (for example, took them 6 months to fix the leaking roof)
-they have one guy taking care of five buildings, so he often is delayed or cant get around to fixing things even if he says he will
-very stingy about materials for repairs
-we had a cockroach problem, people on other floors had mice
-they did not do any sort of cleaning or repairs before we moved into our apartment, still holes in the wall and extremely dirty
Advice to owner:
Be more responsive and timely with repairs

Cons:

Overpriced Dorm with Cockroaches
Former Tenant
Pros:
Good garbage management and location
Cons:
Had a cockroach problem, the buildings pest control came often but nothing they did helped. Packages often got stolen, most of the people in the building were young college students who had no respect for their neighbors. Landlords had no problem raising rent 50% to kick out tenants who had lived there for years.
Advice to owner:
If you're going to charge an insane amount of money for a shoebox, maybe update your amenities or get rid of the cockroaches.

Bare bones apartment but great neighborhood
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great neighborhood, close to everything you could need, Trader Joe’s 5 min walk, Morton Williams 4 min walk. 10 min walk to most train lines. Landlord is very relaxed about security deposit and light damages to walls. In unit all in one washer and dryer (which is half a perk because it doesn’t do a great job), above a laundry place. Lord of great food around.
Cons:
No closets, mice in walls of apartment had to duck tape hole, fire escape does not work and fire department gave them a notice but they never fixed it, brown water leaked through bathroom ceiling from floor above and building manager said it was from the toilet but fine and did not need anything to fix it so likely mold in walls. Can be loud if your unit faces the street especially on weekends. Fire department came by 5 times while living there.
