Overall great apartment building
Former Tenant
Pros:
Great and central location, thick walls, reliable water pressure/temperature
Cons:
Super was unresponsive at times, the heat was cranked too high in the winter

VERY noisy, landlords no longer great, rooms are tiny.
Former Tenant
Pros:
I loved my neighbors and miss them dearly, especially the old timers who are kind and lovely. A few newer ones, especially if they're BIPOC, are also lovely. You can't beat the location.
Cons:
It is EXTREMELY NOISY between The Half Pint and crazy drunk people on weekends. Good luck getting to sleep before 4AM on weekends and your sleep will not be good sleep. Once I moved away, I realized how poorly I slept at 234 Thompson. The landlords can't even be bothered to double glaze the windows. The apartments are tiny, are not well kept by management. My apartment had broke fridge shelves and a failing freezer: the landlord did nothing. We started getting GIANT roaches in the apartment. The cabinetry had laminate peeling off. The bedrooms in our apartment were 7x11 and 6x12 in size: the bathroom had a rolling door that didn't lock. One bedroom didn't have a lock because it contained the only fire escape. Really bizarre. Before the pandemic, the super and maintenance people were kind and generous, though you can't expect any emergency help after hours. After the pandemic they became rude, mean, and dishonest. We were paying $2795 for a two bedroom. They asked us for a $300 rent increase in June 2022. We left and the apartment then rented for $4600...allegedly. It is not a $4600 apartment, but hey....cuck money.
