Great Starter Apartment
Pros
Great first apartment in New York. It’s a great location and neighborhood, especially for new graduates. I’ve been in the neighborhood for 3 years and the building 2 years, some pros are; - minimal/no bugs: will see ocasional roach in summer in trash room but management is very good with exterminating monthly never had any in our unit - cleanliness: the building itself is cleaned once a week and well maintained, the management is good about ensuring tenants follow policies regarding trash/recycling - central heat: pro and con, super good central heat (no radiators) but can be very costly in winter
Cons
Some cons include: - unit size: not suitable for more than 2 maybe 3 roommates, the units are modern but tiny every bed room can only fit a full bed (no desk, dresser, etc.) - rent prices: increases for exisiting tenants are extremely expensive, comparable to costs of moving to a new building entirely. Management also only provides the new rent price a few weeks before lease expires - noise levels: extremely thin walls, you can hear everything within units and within buildings. Considering it’s a younger tenants (early 20s) building it gets loud! - management: while great at maintaining building and communicating, they can be unreasonable alot especially when moving in and urgent maintenance repairs - no central AC: can get extremely hot on the higher floors during the summer
Advice to the owners
- lower rent increases for existing tenants! - sound proof walls/floors - central AC Overall just be more reasonable as management, with tenant related questions/issues and exceptions to policy but also with rent. It’s a great building but not worth the cost considering the size of units and cost! I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 3 years and from the city so fair expectations btw!
Good unit and nice management
Pros
Building stays clean and management regularly sprays for pests.
Cons
Very thin walls and can often hear full conversations with other tenants.
