Not bad I guess
Pros
Room seems fairly well insulated. Rent only increased by a few percent each year, and negotiable. Exposed brick and high ceiling with exposed beams is nice. Central air. Decent bathroom. Quiet inside even though it's right by Times Square.
Cons
In-unit washer dryer in the bathroom takes up too much space, it's right in front of the toilet. Also it shakes too much. Not much sunlight. Landlord isn't very competent. Garbage room sometimes overfills but it's been getting better recently. No kitchen counter space in my studio. Fridge door installed the wrong way. Have some ants and clothes moths in the apartment.
Decent apartments if you can stomach the noise
Pros
The building was renovated not too long ago and most residents and apartment owners have maintained it pretty well! The appliances are nice, flooring and walls all good quality, no complaints about the actual infrastructure of the place! Quite clean, I haven't had pest issues even though the place is literally in Times Square and right above a restaurant. It's a small building so the landlords are super responsive. The super is quite unresponsive, but if I can't contact them I just ask my landlord to and it generally works out ok, although with some delays.
Cons
Noise is pretty bad, especially if you face the street. You also live basically in Times Square, so be prepared especially during the summer months Jun-Aug for insane noise levels, usually between 9pm-12am (things tend to quiet down by 1am so if you're a late night owl you might be fine)
