Bed Bug Central
Pros
They let me out of my lease early without penalty because they couldn’t make the apartment legally safe for occupancy
Cons
I experienced non-stop bed bugs and cockroaches the entire time I lived in this hellhole. The owners hire a guy to come spray your apartment, but even if you launder ever piece of fabric in the place and have them do follow-up treatments, the bed bugs will return within a month. The management company was completely indifferent to my suffering and unresponsive on numerous occasions. Stay far far far away from this place if it is the last thing you do. Even if you are utterly desperate, find somewhere else to live.
Advice to the owners
Tear the place down.
Mouse & Cockroach Infested
Pros
There are none.
Cons
I should have seen the red flags by how poorly maintained the hallway was, but the apartment itself seemed great. Within days of moving in, the roaches started appearing. After exterminator treatments and DIY pest control, the condition was no better. I then ran into my neighbor, who said he has the same issue, and also mice. He showed me his apartment and I realized he was the source of the problem. He is a HOARDER. I have never seen anything like it. Floor to ceiling boxes and garbage, with room for nothing else outside a twin bed. That is when I knew the problem would never truly be solved and I had to move out. I had a nightmarish process breaking my lease although the company found someone to move in within a day - clearly they did not even try to remedy the issue before sending someone else to live in this hellhole. Avoid AJ Clarke Management at all costs. The receptionist Angela and the broker Peter Rohani are horrible people. I ended up having to hire a lawyer and sue them because they withheld my security. Thanks to my diligent documentation of the issue, I won in court. Spread the word and stay away.
Advice to the owners
Realize tenants are humans, do some soul searching, and kick the hoarders out.
