Everyone Moves Because of (Lack of) Management
Pros
Great location, kind neighbors, pet-friendly.
Cons
Building is very poorly maintained and management is slow to act on vital repairs. There were consistent water leaks from appliances and above floors into units below. The floors are so creaky it’s uncomfortable to walk. Thin floors and walls means you will often hear your neighbors, even if they aren’t being loud. At one time we lost power in our unit and the electrical company that was sent opened up our wall and said the wiring was crumbling so bad that the next time there was an issue, the wiring of the entire apartment would need to be replaced. There was a mouse infestation in our unit in 2025. In our time in the building, a large percentage of tenants opted to move because the reality of living in this building was not worth the rent. Note to prospective renters: In my opinion, the images they use to advertise on Zillow/Streeteasy are not representative of the actual unit and we were told there was absolutely no room for negotiation when presented with our renewal offer. Tour in person and be prepared for a management team that does not have any urgency toward emergencies.
Advice to the owners
Invest in some serious maintenance for the building as a whole. Phenomenal tenants have been lost to unreliable management that does not prioritize repairs and pest issues. Many women in the building noted that they felt dismissed by the super and property manager and that needs to be addressed internally.
